Rise Up for the River!
This summer, we rise up for the river.
Rise Up for the Clark Fork is a grassroots community float down Missoula’s hometown river—a moving rally for clean water, wild fish, and a future where the Clark Fork continues to flow strong, cold, and clear. Join the Clark Fork Coalition on Saturday, August 16th at 10AM as we set off from the Sha’Ron Fishing Access site and float down the Clark Fork River to Silver Park!
Together, we’ll take to the water to honor everything this river gives us—and call attention to the urgent threats and dire obstacles it now faces.
The Clark Fork is considered to be the headwaters of the mighty Columbia River. It is also Montana’s largest river by volume and the lifeblood of communities throughout western Montana. But more than a century of mining, logging, and industrial abuse left deep scars throughout the watershed. Today, new threats loom: delayed and slashed federal funding, widespread rollbacks to environmental protections, rising temperatures, shrinking snowpack, and explosive growth in recreation and development. Despite these challenges, the Clark Fork Coalition’s four decades of dedicated restoration and advocacy have helped bring the river back from near devastation, giving us reason to believe that with continued effort, its health and resilience can be secured for generations to come.
This is our collective call for a reinvigorated circle of river stewards. Bring your boat and your people, and stand with the Clark Fork. Together, we honor the river—not just as a resource, but as a dynamic, living system that sustains life, and shapes the land as it flows through this extraordinary landscape we are so fortunate to call home.
Because the Clark Fork isn’t just a backdrop.
It’s a living system—resilient and essential to the landscapes and communities it touches—deserving of real relationship, fierce protection, and enduring respect.
Let’s stand with the river. Let’s rise up. Register today!
