What we do

Superfund Vigilance

The Clark Fork Coalition evaluates the Superfund cleanup along the Upper Clark Fork—the nation’s largest and most complex Superfund site—and offers science-based technical input to state agencies. We are also actively involved in tracking the cleanup at the Smurfit-Stone pulp mill under the Environmental Protection Agency’s Administrative Order of Consent (AOC)—advocating for data-driven cleanup as soon as possible.

How we do it

The Coalition collaborates with other agencies, nonprofits, and local communities to draw attention to Superfund issues. We work with universities to support research and partner with other groups on relevant studies to make sure cleanup is science-based and community-driven. And we work to hold the responsible corporations accountable for remediation as the watershed continues to heal from its industrial past.

You Can Help

A clean and healthy Clark Fork isn't possible without you.

If you’ve floated, fished, or just visited the awesome rivers and beautiful creeks of the Clark Fork watershed, you know how much they add to our lives. Did you ever wonder how you could give something back? The Clark Fork still suffers in many places from pollution and lack of water and is now facing new threats from climate change. The good news is, because people stepped up to help, this river is on the mend. All it needs now is you.
